Precious

See Mike. Mike has large book of business, populated with several large clients who come to him for advice in one specific area, but go to other firms for counsel in other areas.

See Mike run. Mike loves his client -- so much so that he won't introduce his client's decisionmakers to other lawyers in the Firm who are experienced in the "other areas" his client seems to feel other firms can provide better counsel. Mike shuns efforts to "cross-market." He runs from every opportunity to do so. Who knows why?

See Mike bitch. Mike likes to complain about how low and mid-level partners don't carry their own weight because they don't have a significant amount of business. These are the same partners who are competent in, and regularly advise other clients in, those "other areas" Mike's largest clients DON'T come to us for help with.

Mike is a problem. He is an obstacle to the Firm expanding its business, all the while complaining about how the Firm isn't expanding its business. He must learn to change his way of thinking about clients. They aren't proprietary to HIM--they should be proprietary to the FIRM. Mike must be stopped. It may get ugly, but stop him, I will.
